Review of Wearaway and Flambeau by Matthew Hughes
It's "out of the frying pan and into the fire" in Wearaway and Flambeau by Matthew Hughes, the featured novelette in the July/August edition of Fantasy & Science Fiction. A professional thief runs amok of the local wizard guild. The protagonist, Raffalon the thief, is a likable character. The story is well-written, paced well, and original enough that cliche does not lead to boredom. I wouldn't mind reading more stories from the fantasy world that Mr. Hughes has created.
