The Poplar by Richard Aldington (b. 1892) was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on December 26, 2012. The bio states that Mr. Aldington was an Imagist best known for his WWI inspired poetry.
The Poplar, then,
is clearly a departure, having more of a magical, pastoral, romantic, and lyrical feel. One wonders if Mr. Aldington was influenced by Ovid's
Metamophoses when he wrote it...
