New Poems: Galilean Moons
I have composed a set of four, rhyming (abc abc abc abc), 5-7-5 haiku, one about each of the Galilean moons of Jupiter: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto [image from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moons_of_Jupiter]. The experiment was an interesting, challenging, and fun use of the haiku form. Getting meter to match in each one was particularly challenging. Inspiration, however, was not at all difficult to find. Each moon is radically different from the others, and a different and fascinating mythology surrounds each moon as well.
