Review of 1492 by Gary Every

1492 by Gary Every appeared in issue #21 (December 1, 2012) of the quarterly ezine NewMyths.com. In this though-provoking, entertaining, deliciously ironic prose-poem, a hippie takes a one-way trip back to the year 1492 with the goal of sinking "three little ships," never mind "what sort of monstrosity the bloodthirsty Aztec empire might have become."  The first half of the poem reminds me of one of my favorite novels, the alternate history story Pastwatch:  The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card, but in the second half, Mr. Every takes his poem in another, in many ways more interesting, direction.  Loved it!
