Blueshift by Sonya Taaffe appeared in the Fall 2012 issue of
Goblin Fruit. In her mesmerizing free-verse poem, Ms. Taaffe uses the movement of stars (redshift, blueshift), magicians sleight-of-hand, the Devil, and Death as metaphors for self-inflicted psychological suffering and the pain that often comes from realizing the truth. The imagery she uses is as horrifying as it is exhilarating. Brava!
