"Coffee Pot" by Jez Patterson appeared in Daily Science Fiction on February 19, 2013. "A woman, seemingly a prisoner, hopes to make her escape when the man with her, whether companion or captor, falls asleep."
The author uses dark imagery to create a tense mood and ambiguous signals between the woman and the man to build suspense. The ending, which I will not spoil here, I unfortunately saw coming just a bit too soon for a good payoff. 5 out of 7 rocket-dragons.
