The Figure by Joseph Fasano was offered by Poets.org's
Poem-A-Day on February 20, 2013. The poet reveals in his notes that his poem was inspired by the helplessness he felt as he watched a close friend grieve after the death of her father. Mr. Fasano uses dark imagery to create a somber mood. The repetition in the final line is powerful.
