"A Hairy Predicament" by Melissa Mead appeared in Daily Science Fiction on February 13, 2013 as the next installment in DSF's every-other-Wednesday fairy tale series. "Rapunzel's mother tries to find a way to dispose of her daughter's continuously growing hair in this humorous mash-up between Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk."
As an organic gardener (well, a former one), I could not help but be bothered by the thought of composting human hair. This plot point aside, Ms. Mead offers a clever twisted fairy tale with a plot that is likewise twisted (in a good way). 5 out of 7 rocket-dragons.
