Review of The Letter by Amy Lowell
The Letter by the Pulitzer prize-winning Amy Lowell (b. February 9, 1874) was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on the anniversary of her birth, February 9, 2013. Miss Lowell's poem is a love letter about love letters, poignant and filled with yearning, beautifully penned. She died at the age of 51 and, at least judging by her photograph and the lack of any mention of marriage in her biography, likely an old maid. A pity if so--she was a passionate woman if her poetry is any indication.
