People by Douglas Goetsch appeared in the Summer 2012 issue of
The Gettysburg Review. I felt like I was watching Woody Allen's
Midnight in Paris again, only in poetry form. The past, it seems, will always have more allure, more style, more "panache," more romance than the present.
People certainly explores this theme, but then takes it to the nth degree at the end for a surprise touch of humor.
