New Poem: Atlanta's Triolet
Atlanta was a beautiful Greek princess and devotee of Artemis. She attracted hundreds of eager suitors. Fleet of foot was she, so fast that deer were oft her running companions. She agreed to yield her virginity to any man who could best her in a foot race. But there was a catch--lose the race, and lose your life. Yet, so beautiful was she that dozens of men tried to win her love...and paid the ultimate price. It was not easy to capture all of that in a triolet, but I think I captured enough to evoke the spirit of the myth.
