Review of Adaptation by Heather Albano
Adaptation by Heather Albano appeared in the winter 2012 issue of Electric Velocipede. In haunting language that evokes sometimes horrifying images (strange for a mag whose guidelines state it does not publish horror), Ms. Albano weaves a song about a fantastic place where masks fuse to flesh and tell stories. Taken literally, the poem is a fantasy/horror piece, but taken allegorically, the piece works on a different level as a metaphor for the masks we wear when we tell "stories" about ourselves.
