Review of
Before by Lynn Hardaker appeared in the March 2013 issue of
Niteblade. Ms. Hardaker uses this poem to make the reader feel a yearning for what is lost when one willfully transforms into something he or she is not, in this case, a mermaid who has given up her sea form in favor of a human one. The mermaid imagery is gorgeous--I felt like I was swimming with one.
