The Gods Are in the Valley by Dana Levin was offered by Poets.org's
Poem-A-Day on March 19, 2013. The poet rambles a bit, but from what I can gather, she is interested in the "self self self self," and what separates us from the animals. Apparently, the answer is that we "shit out consciousness." There you have it. We're all farts.
