Review of Ode, Aubade by Greg Wrenn
Ode, Aubade by Greg Wrenn was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on March 25, 2013. An aubade is to the morning as a serenade is to the evening, for those not in the know (I had to look it up). It is also, apparently, a brand of lingerie, as I found out when I was searching for a graphic to accompany this post. I must say, but for the references to morning and awaking from sleep, the poem did not make much of an aubade. Nor is the poem really much of an ode (a lyric poem upon a certain subject). The poet's notes provides some insight but not really an explanation.
