"Pythian Games" by Tom Doyle appeared in Daily Science Fiction on March 15, 2013. "In ancient Greece, with the Persian invasion looming, an elderly widow becomes the mouthpiece of the mysterious oracle at Delphi."
Mr. Doyle re-writes history and mythology in a manner similar to great fan fiction or an insightful spin on an old household tale. He manages to weave modern science fiction and ancient mythology into a flawless tapestry, preserving the best of both while creating a new form that is better than either. No small amount of research went into his tale as well. 7 out of 7 rocket-dragons for this magnificent effort.
