Review of This Compost by Walt Whitman

This Compost by Walt Whitman (1819 - 1892) (pictured) was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on April 13, 2013.  The poet marvels that the beautiful fruit and flowers that spring out of the earth and the miraculous renewal of of living things at their time and in their season are born of the compost formed from the rotting corpses of often corrupt men.  Whitman marvels still more that the grass of the earth does not contaminate or sicken him with its touch.
