Dolphins at Seven Weeks and Kauai by Rachel Jamison Webster appeared in the March 2013 issue of Poetry Magazine. In prose-like poetry, Dolphins recounts a day at the beach with friends and the mystical wonder at being privileged to observe thousands of playful dolphins. The poet identifies with the dolphins and realizes that "we too could know that as joy."
Kauai is an intimate poem where the poet recalls the beautiful ocean setting where her daughter was conceived. The place must be enchanting and most conducive to love-making, given the the metaphor of feeling like she was "inside a flower" breathing air "pulsing with perfume."
