From The Princess [Sweet and low, sweet and low] by Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809 - 1892) (pictured), a Poet Laureate of England for over forty years, was offered by Poets.org's
Poem-A-Day on June 16, 2013. The poem reads like a lullaby and prayer sung by a faithful wife to her child in hope that her seafaring husband will return soon. One may feel the rhythm of the waves in the lilting, sometimes repetitive verse.
