"Pictures in Crayon" by Elizabeth Shack appeared in Daily Science Fiction on June 3, 2013. "A boy and his older sister hope against hope that they will win the lottery that will allow them seats on a spaceship leaving the dying earth."
The story is, of course, not terribly original, but it is nevertheless well-told and has a nice little twist at the end that almost made me cry (in a good way). 5 out of 7 rocket-dragons.
