Review of "Anything Can Happen" by Seamus Heaney

"Anything Can Happen" by the Nobel Prize winning poet Seamus Heaney was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on September 5, 2013.  Mr. Heaney was born in 1939 and died August 30, 2013.  His masterful translation of Beowulf was a New York Times bestseller and was reviewed in Songs of Eretz on August 20, 2013--it was the first work of his that I ever read.  Ah, Seamus, I hardly knew ye.  To paraphrase Dion, I just looked around, and you were gone.

"Anything Can Happen" has an obvious theme--anything can happen to anyone, no matter how unlikely.  Mr. Heaney draws on Roman mythology to illustrate his point.  I found echoes of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks within his lines.
