"Light (an Ars Poetica)" by Michael Cirelli, who was featured on the HBO series Def Poetry Jam, was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on October 24, 2013. A link to the poem, including the poet's notes, may be found here:

As the title implies, "Light" is a poem about poetry, but it is also a poem about light. The poet uses the word "light" playfully, as in "I eat light." This could be taken in one sense to mean that he does not eat much food, but in a more important sense, the poet means that in order to be a poet he must literally eat light, the opposite of darkness. The poetics of four of his fellow poets are mentioned, and the poem is dedicated to them. The poem ends with a reference to string theory and playfully compares these subatomic strings to strings of spaghetti.
