Every MRE comes with salt and sugar packets as well as powdered drink mix. When I was in Indonesia with the air force, I made it a point to preserve any of these items that were not immediately consumed. In the correct proportions, the sugar and salt could be used to make oral rehydration solution. The powdered drink mix could replace some of the sugar to make the solution more palatable.
