My Swan
For
Alison
of the waterfowl native to America,
synonymous with beauty.
Full-bodied and strong,
yet sleek and graceful in flight,
the shapely figure of this avian creature
is recognizable at great distances,
as is the vibrancy of the snow-white
celestial feathers that adorn it--
indeed its wings can be mistaken
for those of an angel.
Swans are known to fall in love
and choose a mate for life
and build their nest together.
