Cocooned under a Canopy
Lauren McBride
Where branches join beneath the sky
a stillness beckons me within.
I tiptoe softly, breathe a sigh
where branches join beneath the sky.
Beside a pool of sun I lie,
at peace with all my creature kin.
Where branches join beneath the sky
a stillness beckons me within.
Poet's Notes: Many of my poems (mostly unpublished) are about the beauty of the world around me. When The Weekly Avocet posted an ekphrastic prompt with photos of lovely tree tunnels, I couldn't resist, and this triolet was the result.
Editor's Note: What a lovely triolet! It takes me to a nice, peaceful place. And I appreciate the effort that must have gone into writing it--triolets (good ones, anyway) are not at all easy to compose.
"Cocooned under a Canopy" first appeared in The Weekly Avocet, Issue 20, May 1, 2013. A brief biography of the poet may be found here: http://www.eretzsongs.blogspot.com/2015/07/poet-of-week-lauren-mcbride.html.
