Sierra July
All kids’ ears
strained to hear,
Bells that
brought a chorus
Reindeer
hooves, trudging boots,
Milk sips,
cookies crunches,
Satisfied
ho-ho-hos
The bells on
the reins began it all
And usually set
off whistles when
They wound up
heard
In pleasant
dreams
Poet's Notes: This poem is sort of inspired by Christmas
carols. I thought of the “song” children waiting on their presents would most
want to hear and began to write of the sounds that Santa's jingling sled would
bring. I figure with enough anticipation any pleasant sounds can become music
to the ears.
