I am pleased to announce that Songs of Eretz has passed
250,000 total pageviews since its humble beginnings as my personal weblog five
years ago almost to the day. We
can now state this statistic in fractions of a million. Growth in viewership has been nearly
exponential--we are on target to exceed 90,000 views in 2017.
That we have reached this significant milestone in such a
short time should make every one of you feel good about feeling good about
poetry, whether you visit Songs of Eretz only infrequently or enjoy visiting
every weekday to take that little pause in your busy schedule. If anyone tells you that poetry is a
dead or dying art form, please gently disagree and refer him or her to our
site!
I am certain that this unlikely success would not have
been possible without the high quality contributions of our Frequent
Contributor Corps and guest poets as well as those of our past contest judges,
both state poets laureate. These
fine wordsmiths are the lifeblood of the enterprise, and I am proud to name
them all a part of the Songs of Eretz family of poets and humbled to be counted
among them.
Most of all, I would like to thank the loyal readers and
followers of Songs of Eretz for taking the time to enjoy our offerings. Without you, our mission would be
pointless.
Warm regards,
Steve
