For
Alison on Our Twenty-Sixth Anniversary
Steven Wittenberg Gordon
who gave herself to me those years ago
appears as constant as she was that day
the day that we exchanged our wedding vows
an ageless faerie queen who can transport
me to her elven world with but a glance.
Another year has passed wedded to you
yet every kiss however fleeting feels
just like the first we had those years ago.
Half of my life has thus with you been spent
yet vaguely I recall my earlier years
impossible it seems to me that there
could ever be no you beside me so
connected am I to you my beautiful bride.
